BEING AN LGBTQIA+ AFFIRMING THERAPIST MEANS:

I will celebrate and honor the gender identity and sexual orientation that you present with or hope to explore throughout the process of therapy. I will work to provide ethical and empirically based best practices for LGBTQIA+ individuals, couples, polyamorous networks and families. You are worthy of living! And you are worthy of getting the mental health support you need to make that happen.

Being a Marriage and Family Therapist Means:

I am specifically trained to help couples, polyamorous networks and families navigate relationships in ways that will foster growth and harmony. This includes times when you are working on increasing connection and intimacy generally, when your relationship(s) are especially strained and/or when you have experienced wounds that need reparations. Along with helping you develop foundational communication skills, I use Emotionally Focussed Therapy (EFT) to help you identify your behavioral and emotional cycle in a way that can help you work to meet your partner’s/partners’ attachment needs.

Families are unique in how they form and in the challenges they face as they grow. My goal is to help parents work in harmony to foster an environment where children can be nurtured as they work to achieve their full potential. This is especially important at the time your child is navigating and exploring their gender identity and/or sexual orientation. Following WPATH’s Standards of Care, I will honor your child’s gender identity in an effort to support the best outcome for their mental health and well-being.
