about Me

Hi! I’m Dr. Lacey and my pronouns are she/her. I am the Owner and Clinical Director of Celebrate Therapy in Provo, Utah. In this capacity, I lead a group of queer clinicians in providing affirming mental health and relational health services to the queer community. I am also the founder of Queer Mormon Therapists, an online directory of Queer Mormon Therapists from across the nation.

License: I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Utah and have been practicing since 2017.

Clinical Populations: LGBTQIA+ individuals, couples, polyamorous networks, and families. Pre- to early-teenage children (and their families) who are diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD or ADD, or struggle with social interactions and emotional regulation.

Education: I have a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy from Brigham Young University (April 2021) and a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern Mississippi (August 2018).

Teaching: I’m an adjunct faculty member at Utah Valley University, working with the Marriage and Family Therapy department to provide clinical supervision through their practicum courses.

Research: Currently I’m working on process research to improve clinical work for LGBTQIA+ clients and polyamorous networks. I’m also working on an interdisciplinary research project aimed at helping couples where one/both experience problematic pornography use. Please reach out on my contact page if you would like to collaborate on a project together!

Social Location Statement: I’m a White, cisgender, bisexual/queer, mostly-able-bodied, Christian, married woman and mother, a citizen of the US and a native English speaker. I was raised in a working/lower-middle class, rural, two parent home in northern Minnesota. I currently identify as middle class and live in central Utah and acknowledge the land I live on, Utah, is named for the Ute Tribe and is the traditional and ancestral home of the Shoshone, Paiute, Goshute, and Ute Tribes. I recognize my bias with race and ethnicity, and I work to be anti-racist as well as anti-heterosexist and anti-cissexist, etc...

My personal mission is to nourish self-worth and empowerment for myself (especially my marginalized identities) and for the queer community that I work in and serve. I embody this mission in my professional life as a therapist and activist focused on providing inclusive and affirming mental health care and relational health care for all peoples. I work to dismantle systems of oppression in the societies which I live in through my work as a therapist and as an advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community.
